KRILLION FAQ

Krillion Infinite FAQ

The questions that arrive most often, answered plainly. If yours is not here, write in — the answer usually ends up on this page.

What is Krillion Infinite?

Krillion Infinite is a free daily word game about obscurity, played in a browser at krillion.lol. Each day it gives you seven prompts of the form name a cheese or name an aircraft, and every player in the world gets the same seven. The scoring is inverted compared with a normal quiz: the answer that comes to mind first is worth almost nothing, and the more unusual your answer, the deeper you sink.

Is Krillion Infinite free?

Yes, entirely. There is no payment, no subscription, no advertising, and no account to create. There are also no analytics scripts — the privacy policy lists everything that is stored or sent.

How do I play Krillion?

Open krillion.lol and press BEGIN DIVE. You get seven prompts, 25 seconds each, and unlimited attempts within each round — a wrong guess costs a slice of the clock, not the round. Your score converts to metres of descent at four metres per point. The full rules are on the how to play page.

Can I play more than once a day?

No. There is one dive per day and the next set of prompts surfaces at 00:00 UTC. Once a dive is finished, returning to the site shows you that day's result rather than a fresh set. The record of your finished dive is kept in your own browser, not on a server.

Why did my correct answer only score 10 points?

Because it was correct and everybody else also said it. Each prompt's answers are sorted by how widely known they are, and the bottom band — three to five answers out of a bank of 150-odd — pays 10 points. On name a cheese those are Cheddar, Mozzarella, Parmesan and Brie. The fifth cheese you can think of is already worth six to eight times as much. See scoring for the full breakdown.

My answer scored 15. What is “Too Clever”?

Up to two answers per prompt are marked as traps, worth 15 points. These are picks with a reputation for obscurity that people therefore reach for constantly — the answer that feels like a deep cut and is actually a reflex. A trap is meant to catch that reflex, not to punish knowledge. If a trap caught something you genuinely had to know, report it; those get re-picked.

My answer was rejected but it is definitely real. What now?

Send it in. Every prompt carries a hand-built bank, and a valid answer that is missing is a gap rather than a verdict. Rejected words are logged for exactly this reason, and the bank gets repaired from what players actually type. Include the prompt, what you typed, and the date — that is enough to find and fix it.

Does spelling have to be exact?

No. Matching is deliberately loose: missing accents, doubled letters, stray plurals and British against American spellings all still land. You are being scored on what you thought of, not on typing accuracy under a clock.

What does “One in a Krillion” mean?

It is the top tier, worth 100 points. Every prompt has exactly one designated answer at that tier, and it is never published — hunting for it is a losing play, because it is one entry out of a bank of 150-odd. Seven of them in one day would be the trench floor at 2,800 m, which nobody reaches.

How deep is a good dive?

Blurting your first thought seven times lands around 280 m, in the Shallows. Answering with your second thought every round is roughly 1,760 m, which is the Thermocline band and a genuinely good day. Anything past 1,850 m is a Deep Cut dive. The strategy page covers how to move between those.

Is the “deeper than X% of divers” number real?

Not yet. It is currently estimated from your score rather than measured against other players, because there is not yet a large enough set of finished dives to compare against. It is flagged as an estimate in the code and will be replaced by real numbers once there are enough of them.

Do I need an account, and does it work on a phone?

No account, and yes. Krillion Infinite runs in any modern browser on phone, tablet or desktop, with no app to install. Your dive is stored on the device you played it on, so starting on a phone and finishing on a laptop is not possible.

I lost my dive history. Can it be restored?

No. History lives in your browser's local storage under keys beginning krillion:, and there is no server-side copy to restore from. Clearing site data, or playing in a private window, erases it permanently.

How many prompts are there in total?

The pack currently holds 140 prompts, and the seven you see are drawn from it on a fixed schedule so that everyone gets the same day. Across all of them the answer banks total more than 21,000 accepted answers, averaging around 156 per prompt.

Is this the same as Krillion, or Krillon?

This site is Krillion Infinite, at krillion.lol. It is an independent game and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any other site using the Krillion name. “Krillon” is a common misspelling of the same thing.

Can I see the answers I missed?

Not the full bank, no — publishing it would end the game for everyone still to play that prompt. The result screen shows the tier you reached in each round, and the emoji strip you can share contains no answers at all, so posting it spoils nothing.
