Filling the tank…

Krillion Infinite: the dive that ends when the air does, not when the round does

Krillion Infinite is the second way to play Krillion. The daily dive gives you seven prompts and a fresh 25-second clock on each one. Infinite gives you one tank of air and prompts drawn at random from the whole bank, for as long as you can keep breathing. Every answer you land pays some of the tank back, and how much it pays is the same thing the daily scores you on: how few other people would have said it.

There is no daily limit and nothing to wait for. Play a run, drown, press the key, play another. Scroll back up to start a run.

The one rule Krillion Infinite has that the daily does not

In the daily, running out of time costs you a round. In Krillion Infinite it costs you the game. The tank starts at 40 seconds and it drains only while you are answering — never while you are reading a verdict, because the mode should charge you for thinking, not for looking at what you scored. When it reaches zero, the run is over and you get a depth.

That single change turns the question round. The daily asks what is the rarest answer you can find in 25 seconds? Infinite asks what is the rarest answer you can find quickly? A deep cut you take 20 seconds to remember costs more air than it pays. A schooler you type in three seconds keeps you alive. Playing well is knowing which of those two you are about to do.

What each answer is worth in Krillion Infinite

The six tiers are the same six the daily uses and pay the same points. What is new is the second column: the seconds the tier puts back in the tank.

Bar chart of the six Krillion scoring tiers: Plankton 10 points and 40 m, Too Clever 15 points and 60 m, Schooler 30 and 120 m, Rare 60 and 240 m, Deep Cut 85 and 340 m, One in a Krillion 100 points and 400 m.

No echo0−5 sA word the bank does not have. The round stays open.

The tank tops out at 60 seconds. Without a ceiling a good run snowballs into one that cannot end, and a dive that cannot end is not a dive.

A miss costs air, not the round

Guessing is still correct play — the round stays open and you can keep trying — but here a rejected word is charged for, because the round has no clock of its own to spend. Five seconds is roughly what a Rare pays, so a wild guess is a real bet. Infinite matches answers loosely on purpose: a missing accent, a doubled letter, a stray plural or a British spelling all still land, and the game shows you the spelling it matched.

Pressure: why every Krillion Infinite run ends

Two things escalate as you sink, and they pull in opposite directions.

A run is meant to end in a number rather than in boredom. Around twenty to twenty-five prompts is a good one; five or six minutes is a normal length.

The caught log: your own answers run out

Krillion Infinite draws from a bank of 140 prompts, so prompts come round again. If nothing stopped it, the right play would be to memorise one strong answer per prompt and repeat it for ever, and the bank would be 140 answers deep instead of 21,000.

So every answer you land goes into a caught log, kept per prompt on your own device. Meet that prompt again and the answer you used is spent: it is still correct, it just pays nothing and buys no air. The first time name a candy comes up you can get away with Snickers. The fifth time, you have to know something.

The log has been quietly filling since your first daily dive, so your first Infinite run already has a history behind it. You can clear it from the end-of-run screen whenever you want the collection to start again.

Questions people ask about Krillion Infinite

How many times can I play Krillion Infinite?

As many times as you like. There is no daily limit in Krillion Infinite; the limit is the tank. The daily dive is the one you get once a day.

Why did my answer score nothing?

Because you have used it on that prompt before. Infinite keeps a log of every answer you land and will not pay twice for the same one on the same prompt. The log is stored on your device and can be cleared at the end of any run.

Can I skip a prompt I have no answer for?

After eight seconds, yes. It is not free — those eight seconds came out of the tank, which is usually the most expensive thing you can do in a run — but it is better than staring at a prompt until you drown. There is no instant skip, because an instant skip is a reroll and Infinite would become a hunt for prompts you already know.

Does a run save if I close the tab?

No. A run is a held breath and it does not survive the tab. Your best depth, your number of runs and your caught log all persist; the run in progress does not.

How deep can you actually get in Krillion Infinite?

There is no floor. The daily dive tops out at 2,800 m because seven perfect answers is 700 points, and nothing more is possible. In Infinite the column keeps going, the water keeps getting darker, and the only thing that stops you is the tank.
